What is a Class Representative?
A Class Representative is essentially a parent volunteer who acts as the bridge between the parents, the class teacher, and the P&C. They're responsible for:
Communication:
Setting up and managing a class communication group (like WhatsApp or Messenger) for all parents.
Relaying messages from the P&C and school administration to parents.
Keeping parents informed about upcoming events, activities, and deadlines.
Gathering and voicing parents' questions, and suggestions to the P&C.
Community Building:
Facilitating and suggesting social activities for parents and students to connect outside of class.
Encouraging parent participation in P&C activities and volunteering opportunities.
Overall, Class Representatives are the glue that holds a class together. They make sure everyone is informed, connected, and feels like part of the school community. The role is not meant to be overwhelming or time-consuming. Most tasks can be done easily and efficiently. It's a great opportunity to meet other parents, get involved in your child's school life, and make a positive impact within the school community.
